Question for avid "free pilers", anyone who likes to stop at "free stuff" piles on the side of the road?

What is the best item that you have ever found in a "free" pile? I always stop, and I have found some really cool things. I just found a perfect Sony super 8 camcorder, with the charger and everything. I also found a wooden radio flyer kids trike ($70. on e-bay). Whats the best thing you ever found?

I live in Canada and every spring "free stuff" is put out in front of homes for people to help themselves.

My most precious "pick up" is an original painting in a beautiful frame, picked up three years ago. It is hung in my dining room, and everybody remarks how beautiful it is.

I can only guess why this was thrown out. Maybe a spouse, now divorced, painted it or maybe it is a reminder of not too happy days past.

Whatever the reason. I have benefited from the talent who gave the painting such life.

I think I should add, to those of you who give us a "hmmmmm" that if these items are not picked up by private citizens within a couple of days, they are literally picked up by a dumpster and put on the garbage heap. Sad that something like this painting could have ended up that way.
