Cord Lead

Is lead a part of EVERY power cord?
My wife is driving me crazy. We have a 4 month old and she has read where lead has been found in the cords of Xmas tree lights. She now wants to know if lead is found in ALL power cords. (I would assume yes...) I was wondering if there were any experts out there that can settle this argument about how dangerous this truly is with a newborn in the house. Thanks in advance!
Not necessarily. The majority of the power cords made today use copper wire. Mainly cuz it's not as brittle as lead and it also makes for a much lighter cord. However, there is an insulation in all cords that protect the metal from any and all outside elements. So unless you're allowing your child, dog or cat, to chew on the cord, you have nothing to worry about.
