Is digital zoom ever worth using? What is the difference between using it, or just cropping...?

...on the computer?
Whenever I try to use digital zoom, the pics come out blurry and worthless. It seems to me I'd be better off cropping and zooming on my computer after it's imported.

You are right, there is no difference between that and just cropping it as you like on your computer later when you download.

There are a few people who are so "computer-challenged" (mostly elderly) who might use it because they just make prints of all their digital pictures as if it were a Film Camera, no computer involved.
