If the usb port is usb2 then you should be ok, you will need to install the software that came with the camera. Should you have already installed the software then its probably the port, or cable, It may be worth investing in a USB2 / Firewire card, they are not expensive and very easy to install.

Although its possible to capture via USB the best is firewire as it has the best sustained data transfer rate
